Provide Urgent Supplies to Gaza
The Messenger of Allah (saw) said, 'Adhere to Shaam, for it is Allah’s best land, to which He selects His best servants...' [Abu Dawud]
For over one year, Palestinians in Gaza have been enduring immense suffering, grief, sorrow, and loss. Since the start of the war, over 2 million people have been trapped in an unending nightmare of death and destruction on an unprecedented scale.
Their lives are dominated by fear, thirst, hunger, disease, dehumanisation, lack of basic sanitation, and repeated displacement. Famine is a real threat across the Gaza Strip, and the situation continues to deteriorate.
The deadly attacks have claimed the lives of more than 42,000 Palestinians, with 70% of those killed being women and children. Most hospitals across Gaza are no longer functioning, and those that remain operational are overwhelmed by the sheer number of survivors in need of urgent care.
Supplies of fuel are almost depleted, and there are severe shortages of food, water, and medicines. The number of aid trucks entering Gaza each day is less than one-fifth of what the UN deems necessary. Even before this escalation in conflict, 68% of Palestinians were living below the poverty line, heavily reliant on humanitarian aid from organisations like Muslim Hands.
Amidst this ongoing crisis, the destruction of over 700 groundwater wells since October 2023 has plunged Gaza into an acute water crisis, affecting 90% of the population. The UN estimates that the average Gazan is surviving on just 3 litres of water per day, far below the humanitarian standard of 15 litres. This lack of clean water greatly increases the risk of waterborne and skin diseases among displaced people, making immediate action essential.
In response, we are establishing large Sadaqah Jariyah desalination plants at schools sheltering displaced people across Gaza. Each project involves digging large groundwater wells, installing desalination plants to purify brackish water, and assembling water storage tanks and solar panels. These plants will provide safe drinking water to 10,000 people every day, ensuring each person receives 5 litres of fresh drinking water and 5 litres for domestic use.
Alhamdulillah, with your support and through our partnerships with WFP and other UN aid agencies, we have raised over £4 million, reaching nearly 500,000 people with essential food, water, shelter, and medical care. But the need remains critical.
Give hope to the people of Gaza today. Your Zakat and Sadaqah can provide clean, fresh water for life and support those who continue to endure unimaginable hardship.
