When is Eid al-Adha 2017?
This year, Eid al-Adha will begin on Friday 1st August and continue for three days until Sunday 3rd September.
Eid al-Adha will mark the end of Hajj, the holy pilgrimage undertaken in the month of Dhul Hijjah on the 8th, 9th and 10th days of the month. Following the Day of Arafah on the 9th day of Dhul Hijjah, Eid al-Adha will start on the 10th day and end at sunset on the 12th day, signalling the end of Hajj. As we offer the Qurbani sacrifice during the period of Eid, we remember the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (as) and his devotion to Allah (swt):Â
"And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, We called to him, 'O Ibrahim, You have fulfilled the vision.' … Indeed, this was the clear trial. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice…" (Qur’an, 37: 103-8)
As we therefore pass through this blessed holy period of the Islamic calendar, the ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ team would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and blessed Hajj and Eid al-Adha. May Allah (swt) accept all of those who undertake the holy pilgrimage and give Qurbani for the sake of Allah (swt).
Eid Mubarak!
